Breakaway (Civil, Structural)
Breakaway is a new mountain village located in the Appalachian Mountains, 25 miles north of Asheville, North Carolina. But Breakaway is more than a collection of beautiful mountain cottages. It is a carefully planned village where the views are breathtaking and inviting streets make walking and biking an enjoyable part of everyday life. Shops, an ice cream & coffee shoppe and a grill are already completed in the village center. A pizzeria and food market are scheduled to be completed next year. More shops and restaurants will be built in the coming years as the village center and community evolve.
Our involvement with this project includes assistance with master planning, grading, road system design, community water and sewer system design, structural design of retaining walls and residences, and erosion control system design.
North Point Baptist Church (Civil, Structural)
North Point Baptist Church is a 25 acre church site located in Weaverville, NC. Mercer Design Group, PC is proud to be a part of the design team as the civil and structural engineers for the new church site. Mercer Design Group, PC is responsible for assisting with the site master plan and is directly responsible for the site grading, erosion control, stormwater, potable water and sanitary sewer extension plans.
In addition to the site engineering, MDG is responsible for the structural engineering for the 63,400 square foot family life center that will also function as the sanctuary for the church over the next few years.
Pinebrook Farms (Civil, Structural)
Community features at Pinebrook Farms include underground utilities, quiet streets with no through traffic, and wide sidewalks lit by decorative street lamps. The community also offers 12 acres of common areas, including a creekside walking trail, a two-acre recreation area, and another green space perfect for throwing a Frisbee or playing a game of touch football introduced by a picturesque foot bridge over Reems Creek.
Our involvement with this 130-unit single and multi-family development includes total site master planning, grading, public water and sewer extensions to serve the development, assistance with the design of the pedestrian bridge and erosion control for the site.
Rivercane Village (Civil)
Rivercane Village on Cane Creek is a landmark mixed-use, green community located just outside of Asheville in the Cane Creek valley of Fletcher, NC. As the largest residential application of solar thermal technology in the U.S., Rivercane Village on Cane Creek raises the green development bar. Rivercane integrates cutting edge green building technologies and personifies the principles of new urbanism: Walkability, Connectivity, Mixed-Use & Diversity, Mixed Housing, Quality Architecture & Urban Design, Traditional Neighborhood Structure, Increased Density, Smart Transportation, Sustainability, and Quality of Life.
Our involvement with this 300-unit mixed use development includes assistance with site master planning, grading, public water and sewer extensions to serve the development, erosion control and stormwater system design for the site.
